Typography & Layout Promotional Video

Overview
This was an animation created as an advertisement for a Typography and Layout course at Pikes Peak State College. The video follows a triangular, bird-like character as it learns what it can expect from enrolling in the course.
The Challenge
The challenge was to create something that was engaging that fit all of the provided information into a relatively short video. Having a character was also a requirement.
One of the most difficult aspects of the project was allowing for enough time to read each piece of information. I wanted the text to be animated in time with the music, so some of it is pretty quick. In the end, I believe all of the text can be read within the allotted time.
Concept and Storyboard
I wanted the animation to be informative and fun to show that the course would be helpful and interesting for design students. I figured that having the bird interact with the typography would help emphasize that it’s a typography class.
Below are the storyboard sketches. Due to the timing of the music and the animation process, some of the original animation ideas were altered.
