Jurassic Magazine Covers

Overview

This was for a class project where we were to design two magazine covers whose audience would be the protagonist and antagonist of a work of fiction. The first cover was designed as a scientific magazine that would be read by Dr. Alan Grant from Jurassic Park. The second was a ranching and farming magazine that a Tyrannosaurus rex would “read”.

The Challenge

Each magazine cover needed to have a lead article, three inside stories, the magazine title, and the issue month. Since both magazines have a large visual, it was challenging to fit the typography in an organized way, especially on the Livestock cover.

Changes

Some revisions have been made since completing the original design. Below are the older versions of the magazine covers. The ‘Livestock’ magazine received a fresh green color for some of the typography, and was also given a new typeface that more closely aligns with ranching and farming. The ‘Paleo’ magazine received some spacing adjustments to help it breath better.
